Not as bad looking as I thought it would. Thanks for posting a pic of the new tank.

After seeing the tank on the TW, I may reconsider my anti-change the tank attitude. I have not taken to the "look" of other sized tanks folks have modified to fit the TW. Conceding the fact a red plastic fuel jug strapped on the back rack is very attractive either, the choice being looks over practical application (more range). I will have to say the stock tank does limit my "warm fuzzy", when I'm approaching the I better find gas zone. And when it comes to getting lost wandering around trying to find my way out. Oh, and without a fuel jug strapped on the back, I would have room to strap other stuff! :thumb:

Well, it seems the dream has come true, and this is the first one I have seen. Looks nice, you will appreciate the extra range and the security it provides. Gerry

Does it feel pretty sturdy to you?
I'm trying to imagine what color will go best with my 09, white or one of the blue ones?
Was the petcock swap over easy enough? I had a trip last wekend and made one stop for fuel and used two 1 qt fuel cans and a one gallon can in one day.
It would be nice to have another manual tube for snacks instead of fuel.

cheers

The tank feels real sturdy. It should work great. My first tank I rode 160 miles riding double and it took 2.5 gallons (64mpg).

I forgot to ask. does the tank have holes for mounting the plastic side trim pieces?

That tank looks great. I've been thinking of carrying extra fuel on the luggage rack, but this would be a lot cleaner.

GlennR,

When they first came out a few months, guys were getting them for about $190ish, and were getting a 10% discount. Sounds like the discount isn't given anymore. I noticed one for sale on ebay for $209, and I have read in the other TW Forum that some are paying $230. Probably counting shipping costs I suppose, not sure. Try goggling Clarke manufacturing.

I bit the bullet today and ordered one from jgt's in white. They were out of stock so I'll have to wait a bit. I hope I don't have to move my oil cooler :(

I Also ordered a new petcock assy for it.

LOOK OUT petcocks assemblies are cheaper at the dealer sites around $16.00 . I saw then on ebay in the 20-30 dollar range for the same thing.

rm, what was the approximate cost of the tank? Did you have to pay shipping costs or was this free?

I'm still holding out myself. I have no problem with the size, colors, or even that it's made of plastic. Painting or applying stickers is what I've heard folks are having issues with, which is why I might, (big might), opt to purchase some kind of metal gas tank from another M/C. I was hoping to add my own personalization to the tank should I get one.

Still, I go back and forth on the whole thing, cause the extra fuel in the new plastic tank is awfully inviting. Basically, I will probably go back and forth and change my mind a hundred times on which way I will go. Carrying extra gas (externally) when I go on longer trips is starting to become a pain!

Here's my bill

Products
------------------------------------------------------
1 x Yamaha TW200 Clarke Gas Tank (11611) = $199.99
Color White
------------------------------------------------------
Sub-Total: $199.99
JGT Flat Rate (Continental US): $0.00
Total: $199.99

My plan it to keep the stock tank bubble wrapped and mint. Nothing hurts resale like a busted up tank.
