PostSubject: 06 tw200 stalled while down sifting and at idle after prolonged use   Mon Aug 15, 2011 10:41 am

I rode my bike for about 15minutes with no problem getting it into 5th gear. Turned it off for 2hours then rode home. after about 10minutes the bike stalled as i down shifted and had trouble idling ? anyone have any suggestions ? adjust the idle screw? tried that didnt seem to really help? idle jet clogged? was running fine... thanks

More than a couple of possibilities. Certainly could be that a jet clogged, BUT, how much gas did you have? Was the tank on reserve? How old is the bike? Pretty basic questions, but since we don't know much about you, we will likely need to know more about the situation. Gerry

I have a 2006 as well. Since the bike was & has been running fine, I would not adjust or change anything. Can we assume that you were able to restart the bike and continue your trip home?

You certainly could have picked up a bit of crud. You might loosen up the intake hose and aircleaner boot. Disconnect the throttle cable and rotate the carb enough to allow you to remove the float bowl and inspect condition and jets. Gerry

As suggested, most likely some muck clogging the carb, but can't rule out anything at this point. Not likely a cause, but check the airfilter too.

Under the tank on the left side of the frame is a capped hose......check that.
