PostSubject: Handlebars   Handlebars Empty6/17/2009, 6:38 pm

Another question from a new guy. I need to go with a higher set of handlebars for my new TW... Does anyone know what ones work the best for our bikes? The stock ones are about 3 to 4 inches to low for my arms . What brand and size work best ?
Thanks

Many of us have changed bars. I went to an aluminium bar and the ProTaper brand seemed like a quality product. The advantage with the aluminium is that it soaks-up alot of the vibration. You are some what limited on how high you can go because of front cable (brake/speed-o) length. Just take a 'good look' at your bars and get something taller in 7/8" diameter. You will likely want as well a set of handle-bar risers. These are just mounts that are taller attachment points the connect your bars to the forks. Good luck, Gerry

Thanks for the information . Do you know how tall I can go before running out of cable length ? I've been looking at the Pro Tapers and the risers from Tusk . So many inches up , back and out ??? Don't want to order more than one pair . Any suggestions on the RISE , PULLBACK , WIDTH ? I like the handle bars that are stock on the TW , pullback is good , width is good , just would like them about three inches higher.

Thank you for your help
Marty

Seems you are well on your way to making the best choice 'for you'. Every one has an opinion. With the ProTaper, I ended up with the same bend and width just a little over an inch higher, and made up the difference with the Tusk risers. Gerry (I am not a good about remembering specifics)
