PostSubject: Some Pictures   More mud......... Empty1/18/2009, 9:22 pm

Still seems to be a learning curve when it comes to getting text and a picture in a post without accidently deleting one or the other.
This is generally considered the 'start' of many of my adventures. This is the bridge (on Jordan Hill rd.)crossing the W. branch of the Feather River. Lots of firetrucks used this route when heading into the hills to fight last Summers fires.

Am finding more and more gates like this being installed by the logging companies. I suspect their concern is to keep Winter road damage to a minimum. Fortunately for my not so skinny bike, I am still able to slip around on the left side.

Here is a re-open logging spur. Many of the old overgrown spurs have been dozed to allow equipment in to salvage the burned timber. For me, they afford new adventures and previously unseen vistas.

Speaking of vistas, here is one of Concow Lake. I have never been able to see this lake from the West ridge.

With the dry weather, logging is continueing. This section of V-line starts to get pretty steep and has always been rutted. It seems the logging company sent a dozer up to groom the surface for equipment. Guess I can't complain.

Here is a look across to the ridge I just rode down from. This ravine has been totally burnt out. Next Summer I will really have to pay attention to where I ride. I have already noticed that things have changed so much, old points of reckoning no longer communicate the same information.... Gerry

This Winter seems to be dryer than usual (less rain) but have gotten alot more snow. In the last few weeks, I have had a couple of (mis) adventures in the snow. Have not been able to make it up to this spot yet because of the snow but this weekend may be different. Seems the last couple of days the temps have been creeping into the low 70's so I suspect alot of snow may have melted. I am not a huge fan of mud because it seems to cause the bike to move in directions less than vertical. Now with chains, the tire grip seems alot more secure so maybe this weekend I can schedule in an adventure. Gerry
