| if it knocks under accelleration it may be spark knock. that is caused by low gasoline octane. try running a higher octane rated fuel. i run 93 just because i feel like my engine runs cooler. hope this helps. shawn | |

| What year bike/engine and how many miles? What is your experience with single cylinder 4 strokes?.
Reason for all those questions is, the TW engine is very noisey. I feel, overhead cam, 4 stroke single cylinders seem to have some 'questionable' sounds as a matter of course. Gerry | |

| Bratliff, seems you are a man with a warranty. The TW engine in my opinion is neither quiet nor smooth. Given the year and the milage, I would take it to the dealer just to be on the safe side. Gerry | |

| The dealer says it's fine, but I am in Panama and it is their first encounter with the TW200. Bob - mrgizmow1 wrote:

| Here is my perspective from a riders point of view over the mechanic. Having ridden a TW for a little over 5 years now, as suggested by mrgizmow1, the TW engine does have quite a bit of engine noise. In fact a lot more than what I was use to from riding other types of motorcycles and ATV's.
What I can comment on about engine noise or not. I can defiantly tell when the engine is making an unusual noise other than what I'm use too. Typically, this is more in the form of a "ping" rather than a knock. However, when I do hear this type of noise, it is more related to how I'm driving it. i.e. under a heavy load or extreme torque situations (going uphill).
Since you have already taken it back to the dealer and they said it was fine, put some miles on it and see if your performance starts to suffer. i.e. lower fuel mileage than what is normal too you, and feel (excessive vibration).
Hope your noise is something your just not use too, like mine was, and nothing is really wrong with it.
Take Care

| I have driven it 10 months and the knock is the same. It is still running so I guess everything is fine. bobinpanama
