New tw200 owner

Hey everybody new guy here to the world of tw's. Got ahold of an 87 tw and this thing is great! Cheap too! Cheap as in I was doing some work for a guy and he had it laying against his barn and I asked him about and he said I could have it for free! The only work I've had to do to it was some minor tune up stuff, oil change, etc. Along with getting a new CDI which wasn't the cheap part. Other than that it had 7000 miles on it and runs like a champ! I always rode quads, three wheelers, and street bikes but never a dirt bike, better yet a dual sport! I couldn't be happier! I also like all the support and parts that are available for these things. The thing I was hoping to learn more about was what tires does everyone like along with mods for street vs dirt.

Much of the modding seems to have alot to do with how you plan to use the bike. I use to spend lots of time exploring logging roads and found the stock front tire lacking the traction I needed to stay upright. As a taller fellow (6'2) I raised my handlebars with a set of risers and switched to an aluminium bars. I found both of these changes improved comfort a lot. Then there was the seat pad, again for comfort. You may as well want to be able to carry more fuel, so check out some of the other posts here to see what others have done.
