Subject: Crackeling sound on acceleration 10/19/2012, 10:30 pm
My 2006 TW200 with 605 miles runs and accelerates great, but on moderately hard acceleration at higher RPMs, I can hear a crackeling sound. Might be detonation, but does not sound like the typical marbles in a bucket sound to me. What gives? Thanks.

Your bike is pretty much brand new. It is unlikely you have a problem. Perhaps since the bike is new and unfamiliar to you, odd sounds cause concern. The engines on these bikes at high revs seem to cause many new owners concern. My 2006 is still running strong, but then it has always sounded more like my rototiller than my car. Gerry
