The forum did not take off like the other one. I haven't checked in for a while and was mortified to see that I have only 1 post!!!

| The other forum (Yamaha TW200 Trailway discussion forum) was very well established before this one came into being. At some point, the forum Chopper Charles started was having some issues with it's membership, as well some technical disruptions. This forum was put in place by a fellow who went by the name 'Hodaka Guy'. This fellow at the time was a regular contributor on Charles forum and likely realized the need to have a backup location in the event that Charles tired of the in-fighting and technical issues and allowed his forum to self-destruct.
I doubt that this forum will ever really grow unless its members (new or established) make a point of using this site as their primary posting location. As it is, virtually everything that we/I post here has been or gets posted on the "Yamaha TW200 Trailway discussion forum". As metaphors go, folks that end up here are kind of 'lost-on-the-trail'. A few of us stop by from time to time, perhaps 'we' are search and rescue.
Folks like to belong to the 'happening group'. Once a member, a strong loyalty develops. My thoughts anyways.
My current hope is that I will use my bike a lot more this season. I miss putting around in the woods. Gerry

| R80rt, it is good to see you here. I have been missing your comments and photos on the other forum.
Gerry, I hope you are able to get more riding in this year as well. I liked the memorial artwork that you made for Russ.

| Well, perhaps this forum is like playing right field. Generally not considered a 'prime' location, but you are still in the game. My folks liked to move a lot so I was always the new kid. Looked far more the geek than the jock, so played right field a lot (good thing).
Seems folks still trickle in.
Sold my Honda CT-90 that I ended up spending close to a grand on getting it to run really nice. Still have the 1976 Suzuki 185 dual-sport that I purchased a few months ago. Nice bike, far more power than the TW, but the two-stroke exhaust is hard to tone down. Not loud, but very different from the TW. All that considered, I had to go and buy a 1998 Yamaha XT225. The TW is one rig you 'have to luv', kind of like that odd little dog you picked-up at the 'pound'. Short on looks, but lots of spirit, and always makes you smile. The XT225 looks, feels and rides like a real dual sport. I am nothing close to an expert, but my latest acquisition seems to offer (perhaps) far more middle ground (depending upon your starting point). Now if my experience is representative, you make a 'best guess' based upon lots of criteria. The XT seems smoother on the road, better suspension and likely with that 6 gear, you get just a few more relaxed mph's. Certainly not the traction off-road, and I think you are about an inch higher on the XT. Really none of it one way or the other is a deal breaker, you generally luv what you spend your money on in any event. Perhaps I now have the best of both worlds. Trouble is, to make sense of any of this, I need to get off my ass and ride. My last adventure was one half mile of the "Cow Mountain" ride. Pretty pitiful wouldn't you say?. Pictures to follow. Take care. Gerry

| I'm interested in the XT225 too, I'm anxious to hear what you think of after a few month's with it. Keep us informed please. | |
